IFS Therapy

Ages 18+

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based therapeutic model that views the mind as made up of multiple distinct sub-personalities or “parts,” each with its own perspectives, emotions, and roles. These parts are often categorized as protectors (managers and firefighters) or exiles (wounded inner parts that carry unresolved pain, trauma, or shame). At the center of this system is the Self—a core, undamaged essence that is calm, compassionate, and capable of leading the internal system with clarity and confidence.

The most powerful way to heal is to acknowledge the parts of you that need attention.

How does it work?

IFS therapy aims to help individuals access and operate from the Self, allowing them to build trusting relationships with their internal parts. Instead of trying to eliminate troubling behaviors or emotions, IFS encourages curiosity and compassion toward them, recognizing that all parts have positive intentions—even those that may seem destructive or dysfunctional. For example, a critical inner voice might be a protective manager trying to shield someone from failure or rejection.

By fostering a respectful internal dialogue, IFS helps reduce inner conflict, heal wounded parts, and restore harmony within the internal system. This approach is especially effective in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and other emotional struggles, as it empowers individuals to become compassionate leaders of their own healing.
